Greetings & Messages

His Excellency Akbar Al Baker
Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways

“Qatar Airways welcomes the 2015 Philippine Qatar Trade Initiative to the hub and home of Qatar Airways, where the cultural and business destination collide to provide passers with a unique experience – whether they are visiting Doha for business affiliations, transiting through or stopping over for a leisure excursion. Qatar Airways and the Philippines have had a long lasting relationship, when the airline launched service to Manila since the inception of the airline, and the start of service to Clarke in 2013. We are pleased to provide all of ou passengers travelling to and from the Philippine with the airline’s signature service on board and with the convenience of flying up to double daily between our two nations.”

Hon. Abdulla Ali Alajaj Al-Kubaisi
Charge d' Affaires, a.i. Embassy of the State of Qatar - Manila

“It is a privilege for me to convey my warm felicitations to the Philippine Qatar Trade Initiatives (PHLQAT) for the steadfast effort and determination to bring Philippine-Qatar economic relations to a higher level of dynamism.
The 2015 trade initiative will not only boost the business potentials of the two countries, but may generate progressive effects on tourism, culture, labor and education. I firmly desire for the success of this event.”

H.E Albert Ferreros Del Rosario
Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines

Albert Ferreros del Rosario is the current Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines. Before being appointed by Benigno Aquino III to the Foreign Affairs secretary post, del Rosario was the Philippine ambassador to the United States under then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo from 2001 to 2006.

“I extend my warmest congratulations to the Philippine Qatar Trade Initiative (PHLQAT) for organizing a trade visit to Qatar to explore partnership possibilities between Philippine and Qatari business enterprises. With the participation of some of the Philippines’ captains of Industry, the trade visit promises to pave the way for more productive engagements, which will, in turn, contribute to the country’s sustained path to achieve inclusive growth as an emerging market economy.
The visit complements the Philippine Government’s initiatives in further strengthening Philippine-Qatari trade and economic relations. I wish the participants success in this initiative and my very best to PHLQAT in its future endeavors. Mabuhay!”

Hon. Gregory L. Domingo
Secretary of Trade & Industry

“Our warmest greetings to the officers and members of the Philippine-Qatar Trade Initiative asĀ  you embark on a Philippine Trade Mission to Qatar on 22-26 November 2015. We welcome the prospect of expanding economic ties with emerging trade partners like Qatar. The mission is anticipated to positively contribute to the achievement of the two countries’ common goal of enhancing collaborative engagements, especially in the area of trade. It is my fervent hope that the Philippine Qatar Initiative will have a most productive visit. I am certain this will further strengthen economic relations between the Philippines and Qatar. Mabuhay!

His Excellency Wilfredo C. Santos
Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar

“Congratulations to the Philippine Qatar Trade Initiative (PhlQat) for the biggest ever trade to Qatar which was jointly undertaken by the Philippine private and business sectors. The visit aims to explore partnership possibilities between Philippines and Qatar business enterprises especially in promoting products that are not compatible to the country. The trade mission may also open opportunities for engaging special sectors of interests such as hotels for high-end and quality furniture, outsourcing architectural, interior design and engineering services to the Philippines, and exploring jewelry.
This trade mission would also be a good venue to explore new trade opportunities and to promote the Philippines as an optimal place for investments as Qatar diversifies away from oil and gas and pursues long-term investment plans. I assure PhlQat of the Embassy’s assistance for this undertaking and I look forward to more opportunities of economic cooperation between the Philippines and Qatar. Mabuhay kayong lahat!”

Hon. Carmelo Arcilla
Executive Director Civil Aeronautic Board

“I await with great enthusiasm the forthcoming trade talks between the Philippines and Qatar this November. It is auspicious that we just recently expanded traffic rights between our two Aviation as a catalyst of growth not only moves people and goods but also enriches culture. I therefore wish our trade talks great success.”

“I’m very pleased to be part of the Philippine-Qatar Trade Initiative (PhilQat) as an advisor having earlier expressed my belief that the two nations have great potential to work together as partners. A sizeable number of Filipinos, estimated at over 300,000, work in Qatar and that alone is an indicator of the strong link between these two nations, especially because the Qatari government has on numerous occasions affirmed its willingness to boost employment opportunities for overseas Filipino workers especially in light of the lead-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup that Doha will be hosting.

Qatar is a global leader, acknowledged as the richest country with the highest per capita in the world. On the other hand, the Philippines has been notable for weathering the global financial crisis that has put many economies down on their knees. No doubt there is great potential for trade between the two countries, considering that last year, a delegation of Qatari businessmen visited the Philippines and indicated interest in investing up to $1 billion into the country. The recent memorandum of understanding signed by the Philippines and Qatar increasing the number of flight frequencies for Qatar Airways to 14 per week is also a step in the right direction as it would enhance tourism opportunities for the Philippines.

This initiative conceptualized by Mr. Ramon Jose Cruz, CEO of BSMG Worlwide, is both timely and opportune, and we are confident that the trade visit will open more opportunities for partnership between the Philippines and Qatar.”

“Kudos to the Philippine Qatar Trade Initiative (PHLQAT) for organizing, with the kind of auspices of Qatar Airways, the first ever, private sector-led, trade mission of select business leaders from the Philippines to the State of Qatar.
This initiative will certainly encourage wider economic and trade cooperation, bring more meaningful business partnerships, and possible realize untapped synergies and potentials to benefit both nations. But more importantly, the outreach will enhance goodwill and friendship between two cultures well known for their warm and cordial disposition and nature. All the best to the PHILQAT and its pioneering initiative!”
